Meeting Summary
The first regional meeting of the American College of Certified
Wound Specialist was held in Dayton, Ohio on September 19,
2007. The dinner meeting was sponsored by the local Pfizer
representative. Meeting notices were sent out via e-mail to
both Fellows of the College and Diplomats of the Academy.
Over 15 attendees participated. Fellows from Cincinnati and
as far as Michigan were present.
Erin Kelly, Regional Director, facilitated the meeting.
A brief background on the College was presented and materials
were distributed. An organizational outline for the meeting
was discussed and objectives were established. The fundamental
purpose for regional meetings is to generate networking among
members and recruitment of Fellows and Diplomats.
Dr. Richard Groger (Infectious Disease), was the guest speaker.
His presentation highlighted the diagnosis of osteomylelitis
and the current treatment of MRSA infections. An open Q&A
dialogue followed.
A Fellow from the Cincinnati area has volunteered to help
coordinate the next Regional meeting. The goal has informally
been set for meetings to be held on a quarterly basis. The
meeting was adjourned and mintues will be distributed.
