The American College of Certified Wound Specialists
Ohio Regional Meeting
October 10, 2008

The Ohio region of the American College of Certified Wound Specialist held their final meeting of 2008 in Beavercreek, Ohio on October 23, 2008. Continuing education credits were offered for physicians and nurses with the assistance of the Kettering Medical Center Continuing Education Department. The meeting was sponsored by Pegasus Biologics, Inc. There was a record breaking attendance of 42 people.

Dr. Gerit Mulder, DPM and Board Certified Podiatric Surgeon came to us from San Diego, CA. as the guest speaker. He presented an informative talk on the application of Xenograft in wound care. His presentation was highlighted with case presentations and photographs.

Erin Kelly, Regional Director, facilitated the meeting and reviewed the objectives and goals of The College. Dr. Richard Simman, Chairman, provided the audience with highlights of The College’s recent accomplishments including the first release of its professional journal.

Planning is underway for the next meeting in 2009 to take place within the first quarter. Continuing education credits will be offered regularly at all future meetings.

Ohio Regional Meeting
May 12, 2008

 

The third Ohio regional meeting of the American College of Certified Wound Specialist was held in Columbus, Ohio on May 14, 2008. A noteworthy accomplishment at this event was the Continuing Medical Education Credits offered for physicians and Continuing Education Credits for nurses. The meeting was sponsored by Galaxy Medical Products and Smith and Nephew.

Erin Kelly, Regional Director, facilitated the meeting. Members and attendees were provided with an overview of the College and its objectives. Another highlight was the presentation of an Honorary Fellowship to Dr. Neil Sharp awarded by Chairman, Dr. Richard Simman.

Dr. Michael Regan, DPM and Board Certified Podiatric Surgeon was the guest speaker. His presentation was entitled The Repair and Maintenance of the High Risk Foot and Ankle and was well received by the audience.

The final meeting of the year is tentatively scheduled for September and the location is to be determined. Invitations will be sent out via e-mail.
