Meeting Summary
The Dayton region of the American College
of Certified Wound Specialist held its second regional meeting
on February 6, 2008 in Montgomery, Ohio. The dinner meeting
was sponsored by the local eV3-Fox-Hollow representative.
Meeting notices were sent out via e-mail to both Fellows of
the College and Diplomats of the Academy. In addition, personal
phone calls were made to extend invitations by Erin Kelly,
Regional Director and Chairman, Dr. Richard Simman. There
was a growth in attendance due to these efforts of over 20
participants.
Erin Kelly and Dr. Richard Simman provided
information on the activities and benefits of the College.
They described the differentiation between the College and
the Academy’s roles. The fundamental purpose for regional
meetings is to generate networking among members and recruitment
of Fellows and Diplomats.
Dr. John Runyon (Interventional Cardiologist)
was the guest speaker. His presentation encompassed Peripheral
Arterial disease, related wounds, and treatment. An interactive
discussion followed.
Appreciation and recognition is extended to
Dr. Susan Solomon (FAACWS) who assisted in coordinating this
meeting. The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for May
14th in the Columbus area.
